Pasadena Chalk Festival 2017
2017 the year my father passed away, I found myself pouring my grief into a portrait of my parents. The floor beneath my hands became more than just chalk and color; it became a guide to relief my pain.
About me
It’s taken me a long time to get here, but I finally feel confident in taking this step and I have my son to thank for that.
My name is Faviola Munguia-Dizdarevic. I’m an artist by passion and a motion graphic artist by profession.
After graduating from San Pedro High School, I was inspired by my AP Art teacher and supportive counselors to pursue a career in art. I went on to study at the Art Institute of California – Los Angeles, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a focus in Multimedia and Animation in 2005. My professional journey began shortly after, moving from small studios to a major role at CBS Entertainment Studios, where I worked for 16 years. Where I earned several Emmy® Awards for my graphic production.
Alongside my work in motion graphics, I was also given the incredible opportunity to teach at ITT Tech across several campuses for six years. That’s where my passion for teaching first blossomed. Though I taught a variety of technical subjects, my favorite class by far was “Principles and Drawing.” Those years helped me grow immensely not just as a professional, but as someone who learned to cultivate patience and the joy of guiding others.
Now, I’m embarking on a new chapter, one I feel deeply passionate about. I never truly understood this path until I became a mother in 2018. Having my son changed me in ways I never expected, and opened my eyes to where my true passion lies.
I believe children have so much to teach us, often more than we can teach them. Their minds are full of brilliance, curiosity, and endless potential. What they need is guidance from someone to nurture their creativity and help them explore the beauty of imagination.
You’re never too old to explore your creative side. In a world increasingly driven by technology, creativity has become more important and more endangered than ever. That’s why I’ve made the decision to act now! To leap forward and help protect, inspire, and awaken the creative spirit in children. While we have time. In a perfect world I imagine children and young adults stepping away from screens and taking a leap into nature to get inspired to create!
